Jesus; and why I had no idea who he was!

I was brought up on a housing estate in Leeds in the 60's. At that time the religion of the majority of people was Christian, or rather what we thought was Christian. Very few of the people actually had a drive to be like Jesus, just as nowadays the main drive people have is to act like the most famous, or rich person they know. Celebrities are the idols people worship today (apart from the Pagans; been there done that for 7 years, who worship non gods because they are either imaginations, part of YAHWEH's creation or works of someones hands. This has been going on since pretty soon after man fell and Babel so as the Bible says there is nothing new under the sun) and it is very very sad because many do not know ANYTHING about the gospels.
I did have a small teaching but I was never taught that Jesus chose to go to the Cross, nor why he went, why he was sent, what the meaning for me was of his rising again. All I was given was a rudimentary knowledge, with holidays specifically to celebrate things I really didn't know what the deeper meanings were. The Church of England did not teach the same way as an apostle would, for obvious reasons, these were special people to spread the Word of God in the early days, specially endowed with wonderful gifts given of the Holy Spirit. Not that people who give their lives to Jesus now don't get the Holy Spirit, our gifts (or from what I have observed) are not in such measures as those of the apostles. However I hear that outside the West where the missionarys go, would make us ashamed of the way western Christians live and act, so who knows?
So I have to ask anyone reading this.
Did you get taught that you actually NEED Jesus and why?
Did you get taught why Jesus died for you?
Did you get taught why he was sent?
Did you get taught about spiritual rebirth?
Did you get taught what Jesus expects of you?
Did you get taught the simplicity of the gospel or a complex system based on how much 'YOU' can do to get to heaven when in fact God says 'YOU' can do nothing otherwise sending his son would have been pointless.
Did you get taught about the parallels of the Exodus and the end times?
Did you get taught about how all the prophecies in the Bible are 100% accurate?
Were you told that God names Cyrus the Great as his way of restoring Jerusalem and the Temple many years prior to Cyrus ever getting into power and before he was even heard of?
That it is YAHWEH who gives prophesies so that you don't have to have blind belief which is what Christians are often accused of.


There are so many things that people could be taught yet are not. Children are sent to Church schools and are not even taught the milk of the Word properly , as was my own experience and I went out into the world a 'carnal Christian' with no knowledge or understanding of the faith I professed.
There is no wonder Islam is the fastest growing religion in the West, hardly anyone bothers to properly explain the Word of GOD.
